As a proudly family-owned and operated business since 1996, the Pets Country Club team simply adore having your VIPs stay with us here at Elcho Park Lara.
With a premium facility featuring spectacular open spaces and a program of paw-some activities, we aim for every pet in our care to leave with their tail wagging! 😊
Bringing your pet home after a stay with us can be an exciting reunion, but you might notice a few subtle changes in their behaviour. Whether they seem extra sleepy, a little clingy, or simply out of their usual routine, these reactions are generally normal and only temporary.
Understanding why these pet behaviours occur and what to expect can help pave a smoother transition back to home life for your entire household. 🐾
Common behaviours to keep an eye out for include:
1. Excessive drinking
You’ve brought your pet home and suddenly they have an insatiable thirst. Naturally a few questions are likely running through your mind: When was the last time they drank? Did they have access to water?
Rest assured, they had ample access to water at all times! Our diligent team also closely monitor the fluid intake of all pets who stay with us at Elcho Park.
Higher than normal drinking is one of the more common post stay pet behaviours. This is influenced by the comfort of being home, general excitement, or the stress of the car trip. While it's crucial to provide access to water, it's advisable to prevent them from consuming excessive amounts, as this could lead to discomfort or illness.
2. Changes in diet
Upon returning home, your pet may devour their food with extra enthusiasm, prompting the thought: Did they eat while they were away? Rest assured our team carefully observe eating behaviours, with any concerns promptly addressed.
Similar to water intake, their excitement from being reunited with you and returning home can temporarily alter their typical eating patterns. Allowing them time to settle and offering a meal a few hours after their return is generally a sound approach.
3. Changes in stool
All this excitement from their stay can sometimes lead to a few unwanted side effects, particularly for pets with sensitive stomachs. Although we only feed the highest quality menus, if you do have a pet with a sensitive stomach, it can sometimes result in softer stool. Most pets are not affected but for those who are, please let us know and we’ll happily offer suggestions for future stays.😊
4. Sore Throat
Just like kids at school camp – your pets love to chat with their furry friends non-stop while staying with us. This often results in them losing their voice or at the very least, having a mild sore throat upon their return home. This is nothing to be concerned about at first. However, if your pet shows persistent signs of a sore throat (that last more than a few days), please contact a trusted vet for advice and let us know.
5. Changes in sleep
Another common behaviour are changes to sleeping patterns. Upon returning home, yours will likely sleep soundly for a day or two. We put together an action-packed and enriching daily program. Your pets have likely enjoyed playtimes, ‘yappy hours’ and our outdoor splash pad, meaning they’re romping around for hours more than usual.
Paired with a new place, new smells and new friends; they are rightfully tired by the end of the day Just like when you embark on an action-packed adventure; the saying, “I need a holiday from my holiday” comes to mind! 🐶🐾
